The phoenix symbolized societies rebuild of the city from the ashes that were left behind because of the bombings. The phoenix: The phoenix was a bird that burned itself only to come out of the ashes reborn mentioned by Granger. Beatty wanted to spread his knowledge of what he himself has read, however could never do anything about it because of the illegality of books. The true Beatty was shown with this quote, he himself never wanted to burn books either. In this society there are many people who are miserable, and Beatty was not different due to the fact that the lack of resisting when being burned alive showed how he wanted to not live in such a lied to world. This would further motivate Montag into reforming society as a whole into accepting books once again, alongside him Faber will be assisting to change the world.ģ)”In the middle of crying Montag knew it for the truth. Faber assures Montag that what he did was for the right reasons. Montag is questioning whether or not his actions were for the best. It foreshadows Montag’s attempts to reforming society by rebelling and burning Beatty.Ģ)”At least you were a fool about the right things”(Bradbury 124) They should have been burning the media infecting the world with lies. ![]() The whole time they should have been burning the current society. This quote is from Montag to Beatty indicating that they never burned the right things. The group head towards the city to help rebuild from what has been destroyed and to eventually reintroduce books back into society. The group all of a sudden see bombs dropped onto the city and it is completely destroyed. They are confidant what they are fighting for is worth it. All the men are waiting for society to be ready for books again. Granger introduces the rest of the men who were former professors. They find a man walking by himself and the hound pounces on him, saying that Montag dead. They tell Montag that the police are looking for a fake Montag so they don’t look embarrassed on TV that they lost the real Montag. One of the men see Montag and invites him to join them and introduces himself as Granger. ![]() Montag finds five men sitting at a campfire. He arrives at the countryside and finds railroad tracks and follows it. To lose the mechanical hound he changes clothes and drifts off into a river. As Montag tries to escape, the police order people to go outside to look for Montag on the count of 10. Montag sees in the news that a new mechanical hound is sent out to look for him and leaves with old clothes that Faber handed to him. Montag goes to Faber to tell him the story and Montag is told to get out of town. Montag goes to a co workers house to place his books inside the house and calls an alarm to that house. The car was a bunch of children who would’ve killed him for no reason by running him over. After the numbness has gone away, Montag finds a gas station to try and go wash himself, however is almost run over by what he thought was the police. Montag hears in a seashell radio that police are on the look for him. Montag runs to get some books from some bushes as he hears sirens of the police he escapes towards an alley. He has numbness in his leg and cannot move. A mechanical hound jumps to montag and injects anesthetic in Montag’s leg, and Montag puts the mechanical hound into flames with his flamethrower. Beatty threatens to show up to where Faber lives, however Montag turns the flamethrower towards Beatty and burns him. After Montag finishes, Beatty hits Montag’s head to get the radio from where Faber was communicating with Montag with. Beatty makes Montag burn his own house down. As Montag sees that he is in front of his house Beatty notices and tells him he will be arrested. ![]()
